Surrey workshop constructs gardens under glass

Terrariums are often a miniature reflection of the natural world, and a Surrey workshop will soon be crafting some of these gardens under glass.

Darts Hill Garden is offering a Tropical Moss Terrarium class, and it will offer a taste of a garden in the tropics. Each of the plantings will be self-contained, and will be ready to take home at the end of the activity.

Tickets for the two-hour session are $75.00 each, and the materials needed, including the plants and container, will be supplied. Everyone will gain hands-on experience when it comes to constructing their garden, and each will function as its own, unique ecosystem in miniature. They will learn about the different styles of terrariums, and plant selection and medium preparation will also be covered. Anyone who has a special decorative element such as a small figurine is welcome to bring it along to add to their mini garden. No experience is needed to take part.

Home horticulture is a hobby enjoyed by many, and attending a workshop can be a chance to get one’s feet wet. Plant tags and labels, seed saving Envelopes, care tip sheets and other materials can be prepared by Print shops that are able to supply in-house graphic design work.

The Tropical Moss Terrarium workshop is scheduled for July 18th, and it will begin at 1:00 pm. It will be held at 1680 168 Street.
