Upcoming exhibition illustrates Surrey history

An exhibition titled ‘Views from the Southbank 1: Histories, Memories, Myths’ will be showing at the Surrey Art Gallery from January until March. This is part one of a three-part series of showcases that will take place during the gallery's 40th anniversary.

By way of paintings, drawings, videos, photographs, and sculpture, the history of Surrey is explored. The works are taken from the gallery's permanent collection and borrowed from private sources. Some of the artists featured include Sean Alward, Sanjoy Das, and Shandis Harrison. There is also a large tapestry made up of inkblot and cyanotype prints, and a film projection of a journey down the Fraser River.

Some related events include the opening reception on January 17th for all three of the exhibits that will be showing at the gallery this season. Further, Jordan Strom will lead a tour of the exhibit just before the reception and on January 31st, Taryn Hubbard and Anne Murray will discuss the exhibit while leading a tour.

To advertise the Surrey Art Gallery's new season, organizers may invest in products such as Flyers and Postcards from local Print companies.
