The Honeybee Centre in Surrey puts bees, along with other pollinators, in the spotlight, and it has partnered with an area horticultural operation to host a special experience.
The venue will be teaming up with Petals & Honey Flower Farm’s Linnea O’Sullivan to provide a hands-on experience working with fresh flowers. Everyone will create their own bespoke bouquet in a mason jar, and many of the materials used will be sourced from the local area.
Each attendee will be able to choose which flowers they wish to use, and O’Sullivan will be on hand to share expert tips and advice. She will introduce how bees like to frequent particular flowers, and also how to grow them in the home garden using methods that do not employ pesticides. Everyone can take their mason jar arrangement home with them to enjoy, and tea with honey and cookies will be served. No experience is needed to attend.
Pollinators around the world can use a helping hand, and workshops, classes and other activities that offer information about them can all make a positive difference. Promotional Pens and other swag for an activity can be ordered from area Print shops.
The Petals & Honey: Bee-Friendly Bouquet Workshop is scheduled for September 13th, and it will begin at 10:30 am. The Honeybee Centre can be found at 7480 176th Street, and tickets start at $52.00 each.
