Surrey to salute seniors with activities

Surrey can be a great place to be a senior, and to offer a salute to its older adults, it has scheduled a week of activities with them in mind.

The community has organized Seniors Week for early June, and drop in, registration required workshops and other activities are all on the list of offerings. These will give seniors the chance to discover new sports and hobbies, and to encourage them to do so, a passport system has been put in place.

Those who are age 55 and up are eligible to participate, and they will be registered when they sign up for their first activity. They will be issued their passport before the session begins, and it will be stamped by the facilitator once it has drawn to a close. They can do so at each class, lesson or workshop, and each one will grant the bearer one entry in the draw for a grand prize.

Being active can be key to living a long, healthy and happy life. Community events can help make that happen, and a poster printing company will be pleased to help keep the public abreast of local activities.

Surrey is set to celebrate Seniors Week from June 1st to June 8th. Its website offers more details about each of the scheduled activities including where and when they will take place.
