Surrey set to celebrate World Wetlands Day

Wetlands play a vital role in their ecosystems, and a special Surrey event will put the spotlight on just how important they are.

The city will be celebrating World Wetlands Day with a community gathering at the grassroots level. The Semiahmoo Fish & Game Club will be the venue for the festivities, and all ages are encouraged to be part of the activity.

The function will give a sneak peek into wetlands, including the plants and animals that call them home. There will be naturalists and other subject matter experts on hand to share their knowledge with the crowd, and there will be time to find out what sorts of volunteer opportunities local environmentally focused groups might have. There will be a live owl meet and greet, and everyone can try their hand at cattail weaving. A story reading, guided nature walks, and tours of a salmon hatchery will round out the agenda.

Community festivals and other large events may require Banners as well as signage, and many organizers turn to local banner printing companies for these effective promotional materials. They come in a wide selection of sizes and styles including ones that may be used multiple times.

This celebration of wetlands and why they matter so much is scheduled for Sunday, February 1. It will kick off at 10:00 am and run until 2:00 pm.
