Techniques for preserving food for future use have been utilized for centuries in many cuisines, and an expert when it comes to fermented foods will be sharing her knowledge during a series of workshops that will be held in Surrey next month.
The Just Ferment It! Series will show how easy it can be to craft fermented food in the home kitchen, and each session will introduce a different recipe. The sessions will be hands-on and will be facilitated by Kristine Hui, who is a fermentation specialist and professional distiller with many years of experience.
The four-part series will introduce the process of preparing hot sauce, lacto-fermented fruit, kombucha and kimchi. The participants will discover how their probiotic nature makes them a healthy choice for meals and snacking.
Stewart Hall at Historic Stewart Farm will be the venue for the workshops, and the registration fee is $194.00 for all four classes, which includes all the supplies needed too. The classes may be suitable for both the beginner and experienced home chef. Printed recipe cards and other learning materials for classes like these can be crafted by a printing services company.
Just Ferment It! is scheduled to begin on Thursday, February 6th from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Subsequent sessions will be held at the same time on February 13th, 20th and 24th.
