On World Wetlands Day, people around the globe recognize the importance of swamps, bogs and other similar areas. Surrey will be adding its voice to the crowd, and has planned an event that will highlight the urban wetlands that can be found in the city.
Several local experts will be sharing their knowledge during the afternoon, which has been organized by the Surrey Nature Centre. Participants will be treated to a guided walk to the lake so they can see the beauty of the location and meet some of the plants and animals that depend upon it for their survival.
After the visit to the lake, attendees will return and be invited to warm themselves with a hot drink. Here, they can listen to a presentation that will explore wetlands and offer insights into why it is important that they are protected now and into the future.
