The International Day of Persons with Disabilities will be celebrated in Surrey with a special event, and it will showcase how great a community can be when everyone is able to get in on the fun.
The city will be marking the occasion with an activity that highlights inclusion, and its being organized and hosted by the Surrey Accessibility Leadership Team. It will showcase how much persons with disabilities can do when given the chance, and everyone is highly encouraged to attend.
Those who stop by will be treated to tea, coffee and donuts, and there will be lots of interactive fun to be had. The city’s Accessibly Action Plan will be introduced, and everyone can learn about and try Boccia, which is a paralympic sport. A touch tour and rest area for those with sensory processing disorders will be on site, and Equal Access Collective will have reps on hand to meet.
Starting at noon, the function’s entertainment program will kick off. There will be a traditional Indigenous welcome featuring perspectives on disability, and there be other welcoming remarks as well. A wheelchair dance presentation will take place. Accommodations can be arranged by contacting 604-598-5876. Print shops will be happy to prepare promotional Pens and other items for an event similar to this.
