The British Columbia Printing and Imaging Association located in Surrey, awards 6 memorial scholarships every year to eligible BC students. These scholarships are for those students who are interested in a career in the printing services.
Students enrolled in the BC Institute of Technology’s Graphic Communication Technology Program are eligible to apply for the scholarships. In addition, students must be enrolled for 2 years as full-time students in a printing management or technical program, they must have a high school average of at least 80% and they must be committed to pursuing a career in the printing industry. The total amount of the scholarship is $1250 which will go a long way in paying the expenses of a student for one year.
By providing these scholarships, the British Columbia Printing and Imaging Association are doing a great service to the printing industry as a whole. Many students who are interested in pursuing a career in the graphics services would not be able to without these scholarships seeing how the cost of an education keeps rising. Scholarships also give students something to strive for and they may influence whether or not a student will study that particular field. The printing industry is an industry that allows employees to be as creative and as innovative as they can be. Many outside of the industry do not recognize that and by offering scholarships the BCPIA is guaranteeing that we will have a healthy and vibrant printing industry in the future.
