An event planned for the city of Surrey is set to help people dispose of their used Christmas trees, whilst doing good for the community.
After the holidays have come and gone, many people will need to dispose of their Christmas tree, but aren't sure where or how to do it. This event may be the answer, and will give those who make use of the service a chance to do a good turn for their community.
Holly Cross High School is organizing a tree shredding service that will take fir, pine and other unwanted trees and shred them into environmentally friendly biodegradable mulch. This both prevents them from ending up in landfills and produces a product that can be used in gardens.
Along with tree chipping, volunteers at the event will also be accepting recyclable plastic and glass bottles. The public is welcome to bring their tree and bottles to the site for disposal and can pay for this service by making a donation. A reusable banner can be made for an event like this by a banner printing company, which can craft it using materials that can withstand being outdoors in the elements.
The date for this year’s Holly Cross High School tree chipping and bottle drive is January 6th. It is located at 16193 88 Avenue, and proceeds will be used for the benefit of area youth groups and other causes.
