New Fed-Ex facility opens in Surrey

British Columbia businesses wishing to send freight via the Fed- Ex courier system will now find it much easier due to the opening of a new multi-million dollar service center in Surrey.

The center, which was opened with a grand celebration earlier in the month, will serve as the main service hub for the Vancouver area. It will consolidate incoming shipments that are less than a truckload in size, and will send and receive packages and letters going both east to west and north to south. It will be able to deal with the sending and receiving of items within Canada and the United States, and it will link these routes with the shipping company’s global system.

The state of the art center will also connect the port of Vancouver with the rest of North America. Cargo coming into the building will be sorted and shipped out to customers via the existing road network.

The new facility will have 77 cargo doors, and will rely on more than 45 employees. It is expected to create many opportunities for many businesses and service providers in the local area.

Companies which provide such services as Stationery printing and digital Business Cards are likely to see an increase in custom. There will also be other indirect benefits to the local economy.

The new facility is just the latest addition to Fed-Ex’s 360 centers located across North America. The company provides shipping and courier services both to commercial and private individuals, and prides itself on providing excellent customer service.
