Meet with the Board president for coffee

The Surrey Board of Trade is presenting “Coffee with the President” on February 17 from 8-9 am. The meeting will take place in the Board of Trade Conference Room and is free to Board members. Admission is limited to 20 people.

Board of Trade President Mary Jan Stenberg will be meeting with 20 Board members to find out what is important to them and to give feedback on how the Board is serving their needs. The Board of Trade advocates for its members and need to know how they can better serve them.

The event will also give you a chance to network with fellow Surrey business leaders in an intimate setting. Don’t forget to arrange for extra business card printing before going. Since attendance is limited to 20 you only need to bring about 21.

There are several tips you should take into account when attending any networking event. The first rule is to start talking to someone you do not know within three seconds of entering the room, before you go for coffee. Next there should be no hard sell, if you are meeting someone for the first time ask what you can do for them rather than only talking about your own needs. Some of the other tips are only common sense; listen to what people are saying to your, smile, introduce people you have met to others in the room and keep in touch after the initial contact especially if you have told the person you would.
