Surrey’s largest urban forest is preparing for a community event, and it will showcase what makes the location special.
Surrey’s Natural Areas Partnership and the Green Timbers Heritage Society have partnered to offer Green Timbers Day to the public, and it will take place at the stretch of the Green Timbers Urban Forest that runs along the 14600 block of 100th Avenue.
The gathering will include live music from local performers, as well as lawn games for all ages. Everyone can experience a guided nature walk and “pond peeking”, and with some luck, they will be able to meet some of the park’s wildlife. Forest stewards will share stories of the past, and everyone will learn how they can take some simple steps to protect the environment. Free ice cream will round out the festivities for as long as supplies last. It will run from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm, and while dogs are welcome, they must be leashed at all times.
When choosing materials to use during an environmentally focused activity, organizers often want to go green. Stationery printers can supply a full line of printing services, and many of its items can be used more than once to make them more sustainable.
Green Timbers Day will pay homage to Mother Nature on August 9th, starting at 12:00 pm. It will be free attend and join in on the fun.
