The annual Pioneer Fair is taking place next month in Surrey.
It will be held at Historic Stewart Farm, which was built in 1894. Guests will be treated to demonstrations of the way people of those times lived. The staff dress in period costume and guests are invited to come in costume also. There will be demonstrations from the Peach Arch Weavers and Spinners and tours of the farmhouse will be offered.
The re-enactors will be on hand to illustrate what life was like in the late 1800s. The Surrey International Folk Dancing Society will be performing, as will musicians Michael Viens and Rosie Carver of Blackthorn.
There will be historic carnival games, races and face painting. Homemade ice cream, lemonade and popcorn will be available for sale; a food truck will also be on location at the farm. Guests can also take an interactive bee workshop where they will learn all about bees and be treated to a beekeeping demonstration.
The fair might be a good way for the family to top off Canada Day weekend. To spread the word, organizers will likely invest in advertising Flyers.
The Pioneer Fair will be held at Historic Stewart Farm on July 2 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. To learn all about the day’s activities, call 604-592-6956.
