The 18th annual Environmental Extravaganza has been hosting a number of special events in Surrey since April, and will finish off in June.
It is presented by the Friends of Semiahmoo Bay Society and the City of Surrey. The festival features lots of events, such as nature stories told by Surry Libraries; the releasing of salmon fry in the Serpentine, Little Campbell and Nicomekl Rivers; and a garbage clean up along the shores. The festival also features bird watching and tree plantings.
The last part takes place on World Ocean Day. There will be plenty of activities to enjoy during the day, including nature walks, visiting marine touch tanks, and live musical entertainment.
Later on in the day there will be a Salmon Stewards Painting Party hosted by the Salmon Habitat Restoration Program (SHaRP). Guests are invited to participate in the storm drain marking challenge; they will also enjoy snacks and various family-friendly activities.
No doubt many Surrey families will want to catch this festival before it comes to an end. To help the public know about it, organizers may invest in flyer printing services.
The World Ocean Day celebration will be held at Blackie Spit Park on June 7th from 11:00am – 3:00pm. The Salmon Stewards Painting Party will take place at Cloverdale Athletic Park Playground from 4:00pm - 6:30pm. Call 604-502-6065 for more information about either event.
