Celebrate the spring exhibitions at the Surrey Art Gallery

The opening reception for spring exhibitions at the Surrey Art Gallery will take place on April 14 from 7:30-9:30pm. Admission is free, but donations to the gallery are appreciated.

Prior to the reception from 6:30-7:30pm, there will be a conversation with artists, Marianne Nicolson and Etienne Zack, whose exhibit Vision Machine will be showing at the gallery from April 7 - June 10. It will feature the paintings of Etienne Zack, and the shadow machines of Marianne Nicolson.

The second exhibit running at the gallery, from April 7 - June 10, is Cao Fei: Simulus. It features video games and interactive art displays. It is part of Yellow Signal: New Media from China which will be exhibited at various galleries in the Vancouver area.

The reception will also be celebrating the newest installation in Open Sound 2012, described by organisers as

"an exhibition program developed in 2008 to support the production and presentation of audio art Forms as part of contemporary art practice.”

It is important that we celebrate art, so many schools are cutting back on art programs and so many people do not get to experience art in person. Those in Surrey who work in the graphics arts industry or for printing companies are grateful there is a local place to go to enjoy art and to seek inspiration. Exhibitions at the Surrey Art Gallery, in the words of the organisers,

"bring into critical context works by diverse artists with shared concerns or respond to specific issues within culture or the surrounding community”.
