The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) has rolled out a new, part-time studies program, offering associate certificates in Print process management and prepress for printers.
The associate certificate was specially designed for those who are presently employed with a printing company. The program of study is an opportunity for employees to retrain in the latest prepress techniques and to brush up their skills. The program will launch new students in a career in the industry, preparing them for employment in a prepress environment.
Technology and production protocols have drastically changed in the last ten years. BCIT says it is committed to skill upgrading and continuing education for press operators.
The associate certificate in Print management will include bird’s eye view of prepress, bindery, right through to finishing. The next intake for this program will be in January, 2011.
BCIT also offers a three credit course in graphic communications which covers the fundamentals of digital printing, xerography and other similar technologies. Students will learn how to cost out jobs, troubleshoot the various media and equipment and will learn how to calibrate printers for superior colour production.
More information on this and other certificate programs, both full and part-time, will be available at BCIT’s BIG Info Session, Nov. 3, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Burnaby Campus. Registration is available online at www.bcit.ca/biginfo
Prospective students can also get more information about a future career with printing companies at BCIT’s satellite offices, including the Surrey location at Princess Margaret Senior Secondary School, 128th Street and 72nd Avenue.Get a Free Quote for Print
