Each year, Canada recognizes the sacrifices made by members of its armed forces community. Surrey will be among the cities marking the occasion, and ceremonies will be held at several locations.
All ages are encouraged to spectate at one of these public ceremonies, and a selection of them will include a veterans’ procession as well as the main event. Many of the services will mark the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the day with a moment of silence, and there will also be wreath layings and other activities.
The Remembrance Day ceremonies will be organized by the city and several local community service organizations. Surrey Museum will be hosting its “Surrey Remembers” day for families, and a full schedule of the various locations where the other events will be held can be found on the City of Surrey website. Most are scheduled to start at or around 10:00 am.
An event like this can bring a whole community together to remember its past and honour the men and women who served in the military. Programs are often handed out to the crowd during these types of ceremonies, sometimes prepared by printing service companies.
Surrey will be the location for a variety of Remembrance Day activities on November 11. All are welcome to participate at one of these yearly functions.
