It is almost that time of year again for a Surrey event that will help the city to expand its urban tree canopy.
The city’s March tree sale will soon be here, and the organizers have chosen a selection of species that tend to do well in the local area. Everyone interested may purchase up to three that they can install in their own yard, and they can be picked up at the Surrey Operations Centre.
Local households that would like to get involved in the program will be able to choose theirs for the list of species provided, and it is for private properties only. To buy theirs, residents will need to use a credit card that has a billing address in Surrey, and they will each be $20.00. Their caliper size will be from 2 to 3 cm, and they will be up to 12 feet tall. Everyone is reminded to ensure that they can fit their trees in their vehicle on pick up day, and they are considered final sale.
Communities that run tree or native plant sales can help ensure they thrive by supplying the purchasers with prepared sheets of planting staking and other care tips. Stationery printers will be able to provide these items.
The 2026 Surrey Tree Sale will run from March 3rd until March 17th. Pick-up day for the trees will be May 24th.
