Surrey sets schedule for Garden Work Parties

When people work together, they can make a big impact, and a prime example of this is the series of Surrey Garden Work Parties that will be working at various venues this summer.

Starting in early June, the initiative will be giving different public spaces some TLC, and there's no fee to join the fun. Everyone who helps out can walk away with a sense of accomplishment, and there is an assortment of tasks to be done.

Those who are interested in getting involved can choose to participate in as many of the four sessions as they wish, and they will all begin at 10:00 am on their scheduled date. They will be weeding, pruning, installing signage and performing their chores, and as there will be some of the city’s head gardeners on hand, everyone can learn some new skills and have their questions answered by an expert. Everyone should bring water and dress for the weather, and sturdy shoes are also strongly recommended.

Taking part in hands-on environmental advocacy can be very satisfying, and it can also help a community to become more sustainable. A poster printing company can prepare materials to post to help spark public interest in an activity.

The Garden Work Parties are scheduled for June 9th, June 23rd, July 14th and July 18th. The final date will be a “Dandelion Party” that is geared towards families. More information, including details about the locations for each date, is available on the Surrey website.
