Surrey venue to host honeybee celebration

Surrey is buzzing with excitement about an upcoming event that will be “the bee’s knees”.

The Honeybee Centre will be marking World Bee Day with a special gathering, and it has partnered with The City's Environmental Extravaganza to bring the festivities to the public. The celebration will be free of charge, and it will take place during the afternoon hours.

The drop-in style activity will be on offer in the venue’s courtyard, and it will give everyone a chance to meet the bees who call it home. A live beekeeping demonstration and flower planting are both in the works, and there will be an assortment of environmental organizations with booths or other displays set up.

Honey tasting, games, a science station, story reading, and other fun are all on the agenda, and it will run from 2:30 pm until 5:00 pm.

More people have developed an interest in sustainability and protecting the environment, and an organized activity may provide them with an opportunity to learn how they can do so. Reusable booth and table decor for a not-for-profit organization that takes part in public events can be ordered from area banner printing companies.

The Honeybee Centre will be giving these tiny but industrious insects time in the spotlight on May 20. The venue is located at 7480 176 Street.
