Surrey schedules summer stewardship sessions
Surrey has set a schedule of hands on activities, and these will combine learning with the fun of environmental stewardship.
The grassroots-level Summer Stewardship Series has begun, and each session will be held in a different park in the city. If an activity fills up, a wait list will be prepared, and the registrants will be asked to list everyone in their party when they sign up.
The first session took place on July 11th. The next session, which is planned for late July, will investigate the invasive plants that have been found in Surrey parks, with a focus on hedge bindweed and how this plant chokes out other species. The participants will engage in a walk and restoration planting, and they will also discover a wide assortment of types of native plants that tend to do well in the home garden.
August’s session will introduce the importance of biodiversity. For this instalment, the attendees are asked to bring along a mobile device with the iNaturalist app installed and to also have access to data if possible.
Participating in an environmental stewardship activity like this can be both fun and rewarding. A poster printing company can spread the word by preparing an assortment of eye catching marketing materials
The dates for the upcoming instalments of the Summer Stewardship Series are July 25th and August 8th. More information about their locations and timings can be found on the Surrey city website.
