Surrey class introduces art of ikebana
Ikebana is a floral art form that has been practiced in Japan for centuries, and an upcoming workshop will teach the skills and techniques required.
Surrey’s Darts Hill Garden Park will be presenting a workshop that will introduce the fundamentals of ikebana, which combines working with flowers with mindfulness and honours the balance of the seasons. The class will run for two hours.
The hands-on learning will be delivered by instructor Jenny, and she will be focused on the Ohara School of Ikebana. This technique emphasizes the use of naturalistic design that incorporates naturally sourced materials, and everyone will be invited to study a completed arrangement. They will learn how to balance line and space to create harmony, and they will then put their knowledge to us in creating their own floral display. All of the materials will be provided, but the ticket holders may choose to bring their own container if they wish.
Working with flowers and lanterns gives people an opportunity to get in touch with nature, which can be a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. A flyer printing company can craft tip sheets and other printed materials for a learning activity like this.
This introduction to the art of ikebana will be held on September 21st. It will begin at 1:00 pm at 1680 168 Street. Those interested should note the event will take place outdoors, in a covered space.
