2015 was a great year for Surrey construction projects, recording the second highest value in the city’s history.
With $1.46 billion spent
on construction last year, the only year to top this was 2007 when $1.49 billion was spent on development.
The majority of the 2015 spend was on residential buildings, with a relatively equal split among single-family homes, town homes and houses with secondary suites. The last portion of the money went towards condo developments and other miscellaneous residential permits.
When building, especially in such large quantities as is happening in Surrey, safety Signs are printed by the hundreds because there are strict health and safety requirements at these job sites that have to be made highly visible to workers and visitors alike.
In addition to residential building, the city also saw about $187 million spent on commercial and industrial building projects, in addition to institutional building projects, which represents a much smaller amount.
While most of the residential construction occurred in south Newton and South Surrey, much of the industrial development took place in Campbell Heights in South Surrey.
While city officials are pleased with the rate of home building, they also expressed their preference for greater emphasis on commercial and industrial development for obvious economic impact reasons. Get a Free Quote for Signs
