Savvy Cheyenne gardeners know the importance of choosing plants that thrive under local growing conditions, and they have been offered an opportunity to score some to plants in their own yard.
Members of the Laramie County Master Gardeners program are running the organization's Bare Root Tree and Shrub Fundraiser. The monies will be used to help support horticulturally based learning and community beatification projects, with a variety of species and cultivars available.
Those interested can place their order, and the trees and shrubs will arrive ready for pickup. They will be bare root, which means they will need to be planted right away, and payment is due when orders are made. They will also need to be watered and staked; watering is recommended every other day during their first growing season.
Tree, shrub, and plant sales are popular fundraisers for a variety of not-for-profit groups, and they often include the chance to learn from experienced green thumbs. Stationery printers can help by providing written Copies of planting and care tips, plant tags, sales record sheets, and other relevant materials.
The final date to take advantage of this opportunity to help expand Cheyenne’s tree canopy is Sunday, April 19. Orders can be collected from April 27 through May 8, and the location for this will be released closer to its scheduled date.
