Cheyenne course to offer disaster preparedness training
Those who work in law enforcement, healthcare, private industry, and the public services may all want to be part of an upcoming Cheyenne conference all about knowing what to do should a disaster occur.
The symposium will investigate disaster preparedness for situations that include radiological, biological, chemical, explosive, or nuclear hazards. The students will discover how each comes with its own group of challenges and remediation methods, and the instruction will include lectures as well as hands-on learning.
The learners will have the opportunity to put the skills they have collected into practice using human patient simulators, and both small group discussions and exercises and presentations are included in the agenda. As the participants in the training will have diverse backgrounds and expertise, the organizers noted they will actively encourage sharing best practices between the attendees.
There are no prerequisites required to take a seat in the course, although both AWR-111-W and AWD-160-W are recommended. Learning materials will be distributed, and a printing services company will be able to produce these types of items for any event like this.
The Wyoming Office of Homeland Security will be offering its PER-211 - Medical Management of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Events training program on October 21 and 22. It is scheduled to be held at 1400 East College Drive. The contact person for the event can be reached at renee.austin1@wyo.gov.
