Cheyenne course to focus on protection of power systems

In times of emergency, a community's power supply and systems may need to be protected. Utility companies, industrial operators, municipal staff and first responders who would like to add to their skill set in this area may wish to register now an upcoming session.

The Wyoming Office of Homeland Security Training Program’s ‘Disaster Management for Electrical Systems’ course will be taught through a combination of lecture and hands-on activities. Attendees will learn what steps they can take to ensure that the electrical systems they manage are secure and protected against manmade and natural disasters. It is free to participate, but everyone who registers is required to obtain a FEMA student ID.

Topics that will be included in the two-day training event include what sort of threats can be faced by a power system, how to respond to and recover from disasters, and also how being well-prepared can help to prevent damage. Since this type of crisis can often be of great interest to the public, a component that addresses public relations and requests is also part of the syllabus. Copies of manuals and other texts, certificates of completion, and other items for this type of training opportunity can be prepared by area print shops.

April 2 and 3 have been selected as the dates for this short course. It will be on offer at 3962 Archer Parkway.
