Cheyenne conference geared towards small-scale growers
Cheyenne growers who produce specialty crops, back yard gardeners, and farm-to-market producers alike are all welcome to come to an event that will cover an assortment of topics that may be of interest to them.
Those who come to the 2017 Farm-to-Market Workshop will have an opportunity to discover the latest trends in fruit growing, season extension, and also food safety. It is open to anyone with an interest in the field, whether or not they sell their produce at a farmers’ market.
The food safety portion of the symposium will give the participants information they can use to ensure that the items they produce will be safe, whether they are served farm-to-table style, pickled, or otherwise preserved. Those who take part will be given a certificate of completion which they can choose to display in their retail establishment, if they have one. In addition to this, there will be workshops dedicated to small and large fruit production, building a high tunnel-style hoop house, and more. Presentation folders can be prepared by an area printer for a function such as this.
The conference will take place on November 10 and 11 at Laramie County Community College. The price to attend is $45 for one day or $75 for both, and lunch and refreshments will be provided. Those who have questions are asked to contact the Wyoming Department of Agriculture at 307-777-6651 for more details.
