Support sought for South Charleston walking event
A South Charleston area man who believes one person can make a difference will be wrapping up his autumn walk schedule, and has invited everyone to join in.
Inspired by his weight loss, Jimmy Ferrell organized a walking group. For this final installment of the year, the participants will be supporting local food pantries, and even if they do not take part in person, area residents can still get involved.
The excursion will follow a smooth route that is easy to walk, and it will go along at a gentle pace. All levels of physical, cognitive, and developmental abilities are welcome, and while it is free to join in, everyone is requested to bring a donation of some non-perishable food. Non-participating members of the public are also asked to stop by with a contribution or arrange to have one picked up, and they can also encourage the walkers by giving them a wave as they go by.
A grassroots activity like this shows how small actions can make a big impact. A banner printing company can prepare signage for the participants to carry to help raise awareness, as well as T-shirts and other promotional products.
The final Walk With Good Buddy Jimmy of the season is scheduled to hit the road on November 4, starting at 6:00 pm. Everyone who would like to join in is asked to meet up for the Pack the Pantry fundraiser at 2100 Kanawha Terrace in St. Albans.
