Many runners here in South Charleston have signed up for the 16th Frozen Sasquatch 50k/25k coming in mid-January.
The course will take participants up a mountain and through single track trails over West Virginia hills. The 25k will be a loop course, while the 50k will be two times around the loop.
Although both races and waiting lists are filled, spectators are welcome at the start/finish line, scenic overlooks, and at the aid stations. People who enjoy scenic views at races like these often take pictures of the scenery and their favorite runners as they pass to local Print shops to be added to family newsletters.
The pre-race gathering and check-in will run from 7:00 am to 7:45 am. Both races will begin at 8:00 am, and from 9:30 am to noon the 25k runners will be returning. From noon until 3:00 pm the 50k runners will be crossing the finish line.
All are encouraged to stay after the races and enjoy an after party from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the parking lot and at the picnic shelters. Chili, soup, hot chocolate and coffee will be waiting. An awards ceremony will recognize age-group finishers and overall winners. Runners may pick up their drop Bags and change into warm dry clothes.
The event will take place on Saturday, January 10 in Kanawha State Forest, beginning at 7500 Kanawha State Forest Drive.
