South Charleston police offered skill-building course

A continuing education opportunity for West Virginia police departments will be offered this April near South Charleston, and it will have a focus on police records management.

The “West Virginia Police Records Management: Understanding and Compliance to the Rules” short course has been specifically prepared for officers in the state. Both sworn and civilian police department members are welcome, and the syllabus covers a selection of topics.

The learners will be introduced to various aspects of quality records management, and these include copying of records, permissible and applicable fees, handling various types of records, the policies and procedures surrounding document destruction and the laws that have been put in place in the field. It may be helpful to both new and experienced personnel. The fee to participate is $40.00 each, and it is being offered by Benchmark Professional Seminars.

Keeping law enforcement personnel up to date in their training is one way a community can ensure it provides top-quality services to the public. Learning materials for a workshop may be obtained by contacting an area company that prepares materials such as manuals and other bound texts, promotional Pens, and other items.

This day-long class for West Virginia police departments has been planned for April 11, and it will be held at 501 Virginia Street East in Charleston. The learning will run from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm
