Three charity fundraisers have been scheduled for the South Charleston area for May.
First up, Magic Island at 101 Kanawha Boulevard West will be having a fundraiser race for Head and Neck Cancer research and screenings. Registration will be $30 for the 5K, two-mile walk, or 10K. The race will start at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 2.
On Saturday, May 4, West Virginia Breast Health Initiative will be holding its annual Race for the Ribbon. The event will be to raise funds for screenings and awareness of breast cancer.
Registration for the 5K will cost $25 for in-person and virtual adult runners, and $20 for breast cancer survivors and youth. T-Shirts will be available with the event's "No One Fights Alone" Logo Design. The online deadline for registering will be May 1 and all registration will be available on race day at the Capitol from 7:30 am to 8:55 am.
The course will be an out-and-back, with runners and walkers leaving the starting line at 9:00 am. They will run to the South Side Bridge down Kanawha Boulevard, turn around, and return to the front of the state Capitol.
Finally, Walk with Me for Youth in Foster Care will take place Saturday, May 18, beginning at 9:00 am at GoMart Ballpark, 601 Morris Street, Charleston. Registration is $10 and participants will go their own speeds around the park. The venue will also have inflatables, face painting, and games.
