South Charleston celebrates the holidays

South Charleston will be offering three Christmas-themed events, along with one in Charleston coming in early December.

The area will start the holiday season with the annual Charleston Christmas parade. Santa will mark the arrival of the season at the end of the procession. This year's theme will be Neon Wonderland, and entries will be judged on originality, creativity, workmanship, design, and use of theme.

The parade will begin Thursday, December 5 at 7:00 pm at the intersection of Capital Street and Kanawha Boulevard, Charleston.

Since displaying of the business or organization name is encouraged, many units may be heading to their local Print shops to get some banner printing arranged before the big day.

There will be a South Charleston Tree Lighting at the Mound where children may visit with Santa, Rudolph, Frosty, and Snow White, and can enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate. There will also be a Christmas-themed drone show after the tree lighting ceremony.

The South Charleston Tree Lighting at the Mound will take place from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Mound on D Street on Friday, December 6.

The next day, December 7, the one-hour South Charleston Christmas parade will step off at D Street, starting at 12:00 noon.

Also, Santa will be ice skating at the "North Pole On Ice with Santa," which will take place at the SC Memorial Ice Arena, 20 RHL Boulevard from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 21.
