The locally owned company was also one of the major funders for the Folds of Honor Foundation's scholarships. On July 3, the Foundation presented three scholarships, each totaling $5,000, to Kelcie Adams, Mary Kaitlin Sims, and William Todd Barker. The scholarships were presented as part of the ceremony prior to a baseball game at Appalachian Power Park. West Virginia Power Baseball Club also provided financial support to the scholarships.
The recipients of the scholarships were the children or spouses of service people who lost their lives or who became disabled while serving their country.
Jim Linsenmeyer, the COO of Proud Eagle, told the State Journal that the donations are:
"…our way of saying 'thank you' to our West Virginia veterans and their families and honoring their sacrifices made for our freedom."
Along with providing financial support, the company could also use Stationery printers to create certificates for each of the winners.
The Folds of Honor scholarship was created in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, who once flew an F-16 with the Oklahoma Air National Guard.
