South Charleston area event set to bring the heat

South Charleston summer days can see temperatures soar, and thanks to an upcoming event, they are about to get even hotter in mid-June.

A celebration of chili has been planned for the local area, and a dozen of some of the country’s top chili chefs will be putting their own special recipes to the test. Green, red, and home-style versions of this spicy dish will all be included, and salsa will also be a star of the show.

People at the festivities will be treated to samples of chili from each of the chefs. Live music and activities just for the kids are on the agenda, and the hot pepper eating competitions will bring even more heat to the day.

The proceeds of this year’s Smoke on the Water Chili Cookoff are slated to be donated to Hospice Care. Award certificates and other Corporate Gifts for the winner of an event like this can be prepared by a printer in the area, and the recipients can proudly display these awards in their home or workplace.

Charelston’s Haddad Riverfront Park will be hosting this chili cookoff on June 20, with the gates opening at 11:00 am. Spots may still be available for any local chili cooks who would like to join the competition while supporting their community.
