South Charleston area boutique opens first permanent location

A business near South Charleston is opening its doors for the first time.

Mikayla Dent, a native of Charleston, opened her boutique Ooh La Lucy over the summer. Instead of launching online or in a permanent storefront, she set up shop in a boxy UPS truck (painted pink), traveling around Charleston and the surrounding area to meet her customers at special events and private functions.

More recently, the boutique has made the move from wheels to storefront. Dent opened the shop's first brick-and-mortar location on Bridge Road in Charleston at the beginning of December. The store held a grand opening celebration on December 9.

Stores can use Flyers to spread the word about new events, such as grand openings. The flyers can detail what people can expect during the festivities and when the events will take place.

Ooh La Lucy's opening event included refreshments and giveaways, including several gift cards to the store.

Dent, who recently completed her degree at the University of Kentucky and is 21 years old, got the idea for her store after browsing on Pinterest. She realized that no one else in her hometown was operating a mobile boutique and that the timing was right to open her own store-on-wheels.

The new store is open seven days a week, from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm on weekdays, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays, and from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sundays.
