A run taking place during the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta will raise funds to help a local provider of speech therapy to kids in early July. South Charleston residents are welcome to partake in this fun experience.
The Firecracker 5K is an athletic event where participants are able to walk, run, or even ride on a bicycle. People of all ages are invited to join the crowd and experience the local scenery as they move along the course. Dogs are also welcome to join their humans for some exercise. The race is set to kick off 4th of July festivities, with the holiday itself being just a few days later.
Prior to June 26, registering costs $30 via RunSignUp.com. After this date, the prices go up to $40 for those 19 or older, and people aged 11 to 18 will have a fee of $20. Children under the age of 11 can attend at no cost. All proceeds gathered from entry fees will be passed along to the Laurence Jones, III Childhood Language Center.
There will be a race packet containing a bib with a racer number and a shirt with the event’s Logo Design, which can be gathered either the day prior to the race during the hours of 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, or on the morning of before it starts. The track will both start and finish within the bounds of Magic Island. Flyer printing is often used to create ads for local runs or fundraisers. The race will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, July 1.
