The United Way of Central West Virginia provides funding and other supports to the area’s not-for-profit sector, and one of its most popular activities will be hitting the water this September.
The organization will once again be offering the public a chance to win big in The Great Rubber Ducky Race, and its starting line will be set up at the South Side Bridge. South Charleston residents are encouraged to adopt one or more of these yellow racers today in the hope of being one of the lucky winners.
The plans for the day include dropping 5,000 rubber ducks into the waters of the Kanawha River, and they will each be numbered. The individuals who adopted the first ones to cross the finish line will receive prizes. The fee to purchase a duck is $5 each or $25 for $100.
The organizers of the race explained that the proceeds will help families in the local area, and they went on to say that this has been made possible thanks to the generosity of the area’s corporate community. The event’s website has been updated with the Logo Design of each of these partners.
The Great Rubber Ducky Race will bring some extra excitement to South Charleston on September 4. Everyone is asked to do a good turn for their friends and neighbors by adopting one of these quacky racers.
