The yearly concert series is sponsored by Moses Auto Group. This year's series promises a variety of musical acts, from local groups to winners of ‘American Idol’. The concerts take place on Friday evenings from May 25 until August 31. The performances are free.
Sponsors of annual concert series can use poster printing to spread the word and so that people know who will be performing when. The organizers of this year's series had plenty of acts to choose from, as around 200 artists asked to be included.
The music chair for Live on the Levee, Adam Harris, told the Charleston Gazette-Mail:
“We always try to book a mix of styles. We try to get a mixture of local talent and national acts that we think are going to attract people both from in-town and from out-of-town.”
This year's Live on the Levee concert series kicks off with a performance from a somewhat local band, The Dividends. The band is from Huntington and plays alt-rock, and will open for the Charles Walker Band.
On August 17, Trent Harmon, who won the 15th season of American Idol, will take the stage.
Other acts booked for the series include Mothers Nature Band, with Lola Spencer, on June 1. On June 29, the Soul Doctors will headline and Shine will open. The Steel Wheels will play on July 27. On August 31, Vanessa Collier will close out the series, with opening act Tony Harrah & The Fly-Over States.
