Wisconsin breakfast to promote dairy and support farmers

The Jefferson County Dairy Breakfast will be held at the Jefferson County Fair Park in August. Residents of Watertown will no doubt want to attend this annual event.

The breakfast will feature its traditional fare of pancakes with syrup, farm fresh eggs, sausage links and Canadian bacon from the Jones Dairy Farm in Fort Atkinson, a wide selection of cheeses, dairy cakes, ice cream, and beverages of orange juice, coffee, and milk.

The breakfast was first held on the farm of Craig and Laura Beane in 1970 and has moved from farm to farm in the area until it settled at the Fair Park in 2003. Marketing specialist for the Jefferson County Fair Park, Michaela Slind, said that the tradition will continue this year and expressed her excitement about being able to promote dairy with the breakfast and being able to give back to the community.

Proceeds from the breakfast will return to the community in the form of grants and scholarships. Members of the Future Farmers of America and 4-H groups, as well as agricultural producers from Jefferson County, can apply for scholarships to fund educational seminars, programs, and other educational goals. Flyer printing can be used to provide more information about how to apply for such funds.

The breakfast will be held on Saturday, August 22 from 7:00 am until noon.
