Rebranded eatery to open in Watertown

The Elias Inn in Watertown on N. 2nd Street will soon open its doors once again.

Lydia and Mike Sobol own the building in which the eatery is located. Due to Mike being taken ill, the Sobols were forced to close its doors through 2024. However, during this time, they were able to maintain the building.

With the reopening, they will rename the establishment “The Goose & Gander” to commemorate the history of the city as one a major producer of stuffed geese. Mike said it is also a play on the common naming conventions of English pubs and is fitting for a husband-and-wife set-up. Such re-branded establishments can sometimes benefit from Logo Design services to help promote themselves throughout a city and neighboring communities.

Mike said that previously they had tried their best to replicate the menu of the previous owners. They plan to keep their signature tartar sauce and fish fry, and will be serving steak specials on Saturdays. He added that weeknights will have a more casual menu for those looking for a meal after work, practice, or a sporting event, and will focus on the food rather than the bar menu.

As much of the paperwork and permitting has been completed, the Sobols plan to open The Goose & Gander by the end of the year.
