The Citywide Sign Grant program is now underway in Watertown.
Sponsored by the Watertown Redevelopment Authority (RDA), this is a new initiative designed to help fund the cost of upgrading or installing signage for local businesses. This program highlights the commitment of the RDA to strengthening the business community of Watertown, driving economic growth across the city, and enhancing curb appeal. Eligible businesses can receive a matching grant of 50 percent up to $1,000 for the installation and improvements of Signs.
Businesses eligible for this program need to be outside the downtown historic district. The Façade and Sign Grant Program managed by the Watertown Main Street Program handles this district. Businesses cannot be part of a national or regional chain, and the signage should be visible from a public street, be permanent, and comply with the regulations of the city.
Signs that are made possible through this program are expected to increase the property value of a business, strengthen the visibility of a business, and deliver long-term benefits for the community. Such new programs and their benefits can be made known throughout a business community with flyer printing.
Applications for this funding will be accepted on a rolling basis as long as funds are available. The closeout funds of Tax Increment District 4 are providing the funding of this program.
