The Watertown Greenhouse will open next month under new management for the first time in 33 years.
The Watertown Greenhouse is now owned by Emily and Jordan Hayhurst. Emily said that she got interested in the venture after being part of a group that did fundraising for the community gardens. Jordan got a job at the Watertown Greenhouse and leveraged his knowledge from the 2025 season to take on more responsibility as time went on.
Right now, they plan to continue to sell what the previous owners were selling, which was mostly annuals and flowers, but they do have many ideas and plans for the business. The couple plan to offer perennials once they come in. They also plan to introduce edible ornamentals or some level of vegetation into the market, such as pansies, lettuce, and kale. These could be sold to both individual customers and retailers.
Jordan said they have discussed providing fresh produce to local grocers as they have the equipment to do so. He added that they would still need to meet certain regulations and build relationships with vendors in order to do this. He expressed his thanks to Watertown for supporting this business for so many years.
Such businesses can benefit from brochure printing to highlight their offerings for customers.
The Watertown Greenhouse will be opening on May 1 with hours to be announced.
