A major infrastructure project is now underway at the Watertown Municipal Airport.
Local Print shops often assist in spreading the word about such major reconstruction projects throughout the community through the use of Posters and other printed materials.
The goal of the project is to enhance accessibility and safety and will consist of relocating Boomer Street between S. Twelfth Street and S. Ninth Streets and removing the existing Boomer Street. The project will include the installation of storm sewers, gutters and cubs; biofilter construction; and asphalt paving. Michels Highway of Brownsville has been contracted by the city of Watertown and the Wisconsin Bureau of Aeronautics to complete the project.
The project will consist of three phases. During the first phase, all work will be carried out north of the realignment of Boomer Street. During the second phase, Boomer Street will be closed between S. Twelfth Street and S. Ninth Streets and there will be a detour for traffic. The third phase will involve the removal of Boomer Street and its restoration. This phase will also require the closing of Airport Runway 5/23.
The City of Watertown is working to minimize disruptions to travelers and residents throughout the construction process and appreciates the cooperation of everyone as work is being done to improve the infrastructure of the city.
This project is expected to be completed by Friday November 10.
