The annual winter meeting of the Dodge County Forage Council will be held later this month in Watertown at the Pizza Ranch.
The events of the day will begin at 11:00 am as Specialist in Biological Systems Engineering Research at the University of Wisconsin (UW)—Madison Extension, will discuss how wheel traffic affects alfalfa. The lunch hour will feature the forage contest held every year.
After lunch, Dr. Marta Kohmann, Specialist at UW—Madison Extension will talk about alternative forages. Will Fulwider, UW—Madison Extension Crops and Soils Educator for Dodge and Dane Counties, will focus on current research on optimizing the application of nitrogen on winter cereal forage in farm research. Such presentations are often accompanied by Flyers with more details on their topics, created by local Print shops.
After the presentations, the annual meeting of the Dodge County Forage Council will take place and will include an update from the Midwest Forage Association, a review of activities during 2022, planning for events for 2023, and an announcement of the winners of the forage contest. The meeting counts for three continuing education (CE) credits as Certified Crop Advisor.
The meeting will take place on Friday, March 24. Registration is $20 and will include fees for the program, annual dues for the Dodge County Forage Council, pizza, and beverages. Those who are interested can also pay for their membership in the Midwest Forage Association at the time of registration.
