Watertown to build new housing project

An agreement between the Greater Watertown Community Health Foundation and the city of Watertown has been approved by the Common Council to build new housing. The development will be owner-occupied on what was once the Bethesda property on Hoffman Drive.

The subdivision will be built on 40 acres and have a total of 78 single family homes and 18 twin home units which will be part of the first phase of the project. The second phase will consist of a multifamily housing development. The subdivision will also have a walking trail, and a city park.

Local Print shops can help promote such new developments with Flyers and other printed materials about their features and amenities.

Mayor Emily McFarland expressed her enthusiasm for the project. She said that this agreement has come after many years of planning by many people in the city. She added her gratitude to the forward-thinking leadership of the Health Foundation and their team who realized that this project could be a transformational opportunity. She said that this project will not only address the shortage of housing in Watertown but will also be of economic benefit to the community as this land will now be on the tax rolls.

Approval by the city of the zoning map and final plans for the site are upcoming. It is expected that grading and site work will be completed this month.
