A newly renovated rehabilitation space is now opened at the Watertown Regional Medical Center (WRMC).
The Center for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is in the medical office building that is part of the hospital, and offers fellowship-trained and board-certified rehabilitation specialists and surgeons. Among the rehabilitation services to be available at WRMC are occupational, speech, and physical therapy. These services will be in the same wing as the providers of orthopedic services, which will facilitate referrals. The team of rehabilitation specialists includes four athletic trainers, two speech therapists, eight occupational therapists, two physical therapist assistants, and 17 physical therapists.
The orthopedic team provides care for sports- and trauma-related injuries and fractures; knee, hip, and joint replacement; minimally invasive arthroscopy surgery of the knee and shoulder; and treatment for hand injuries and carpal tunnel syndrome. The team includes three advanced practice providers and three orthopedic surgeons who are fellowship trained, as well as an enhanced nurse navigator program.

Orthopedic surgeon and joint specialist, Dr. Jason Habeck, said that patients will have the best chance to heal with rehabilitation specialists and orthopedic providers working together in the same space. He added that there will now be greater collaboration and communication between patients and their providers.
