The staff members of the Watertown Library Center are currently packing up items ready to move into the expansion of the library.
Designed by StudioGC, an architecture firm in Chicago, and built by Miron Construction Co. of Neenah, the new Library Center will include a drive-up book drop, several small meeting rooms, and a meeting space with a capacity of 180 people for programming and large events. In the section of the library built in 1984, there will be a glass wall that overlooks the town square, providing natural light a great view.
There will also be an enlarged TalkReadPlay Center, which will be state-of-the-art and designed to promote positive and high-quality interactions between parents and their children up to the age of five. The center will provide access to a Family Resource Network, which will support connections in the community to foster parental resilience and the social and emotional competence of children. Local Print shops are often used for creating many of the resources used in such centers.
In the meantime, the Library Center is hosting its Summer Library Challenge 2021: Tails & Tales. This is a program that enables participants to create, read, and engage with the library. There will be a daily reading challenge and other challenges that will award prizes, badges, and tickets throughout the summer through Sunday, August 1.
