A Christmas tree decorating contest will be held by the Hoard Historical Museum in Fort Atkinson. Participants and organizations in the area, including Watertown, are being sought to decorate the trees.
Director of the Hoard Historical Museum, Merrilee Lee, said that as the holidays are such a special time for everyone, it is hoped that individuals, businesses, clubs, groups, and the like will want to help spread holiday cheer throughout the community by participating in this contest. Local Print shops can be hired to create Flyers and mailers to help promote participation in such events.
The museum will have 12 trees for decorating, after which they will be displayed outside the museum along the sidewalk of the parking lot, as well as along the South Fourth Street East sidewalk. Decorations will be wildlife-friendly and recyclable or biodegradable, such as pinecones, birdseed, salt-dough ornaments, and dried fruit, as well as recyclable materials such as glass, cardboard, and paper.
There will be two contests for trees, both of which will be voted on by the public. One contest will be for the most wildlife and bird-friendly while the other will be for the favorite tree. The trees will be available for decorating on Friday, December 3 and need to be decorated by Tuesday, December 7.
