The first phase of three to update North Fourth Street from the Rock River to Jones Street is currently underway in Watertown.
The current phase will remove and replace a water main about a half-mile in length and other substandard service or public lead laterals that are within the limits of the project. The work of this phase will begin near the North Fourth Street Bridge and then progress south. School traffic during drop off and pickup times will be accommodated during the project.
Forest Landscaping of Lake Mills is the contractor for the project. Forest Landscaping will be responsible for all road and lane closures as well as traffic control during the project. Local Print shops often assist in spreading the word about such projects and upcoming changes in traffic patterns with Flyers and other printed materials.
The east side line of traffic will be covered primarily during the first phase of the project. Concrete will replace the existing pavement and there will be no parking for a week while the concrete is being poured to enable it to harden and cure.
The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by late June. The second and third phases of the project will be undertaken by Payne & Dolan of Waukesha under the direction of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
